CARB No Longer Seeks to Enforce Advanced Clean Fleets Rule
On Monday, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) announced that they would be withdrawing its waiver request to the U.S. EPA. The Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) rule aimed to drastically reduce emissions by mandating fleets to transition to zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) over time and requiring manufacturers to produce only ZEV trucks starting in the 2036 model year, according to the CARB website.
Reports indicate that CARB’s decision to withdraw the waiver request is primarily driven by the new presidential administration’s commitment to challenging stringent emission regulations.
Several trucking associations are rejoicing after this announcement from CARB. Many of them have strongly opposed these emissions regulations.
