Domestic Market Updates –
Diesel Update: The average price of diesel decreased 8.2 cents a gallon, putting the average price of diesel at $3.458 a gallon, according to the U.S. EIA.
Cross Border Updates: Canada’s trade with the U.S., saw slight increase in the month of October. Export volumes were up 0.4%, while imports saw a 0.3% increase – according to Transport Topics.
Additionally, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will adjust hours of operation for 38 U.S. – Canada border ports of entry starting on January 6th. Reason for this? CBP announcement said this will allocate the agencies resources efficiently for vital national and border security tasks.
Truck Parking: The state of Connecticut has put forth $31 million to invest in truck parking throughout the state. Per the CTDOT, five key locations will see this funding go towards more truck parking spaces. Currently the state has around 420 truck parking spaces at various rest areas and plazas, this funding will help increase that capacity to 600 total spaces – a 44% boost – per CTDOT.
Holiday Season: Over 800 truckers will carry wreaths, for Wreaths Across America, to more than 4,900 locations across the U.S. and its territories. Wreaths Across America’s mission is to remember the fallen and honor those who service. Volunteers place wreaths on the graves of veterans’. It is held on Saturday, December 14th.
