U.S. EPA Announces Regulatory Rollbacks

Last week, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, Lee Zeldin announced measures to deregulate a variety of regulations.

The actions in their deregulatory plan include rolling back rules that impact greenhouse gas emissions by heavy-duty trucks, as well as reconsidering model year 2027 and later on the light-duty and medium-duty vehicle regulation, per the U.S. EPA. Plus, actions in the Clean Trucks Plan.

Some trucking associations and others of the like have applauded the actions from the EPA.

In a U.S. EPA press release, President and CEO of American Trucking Associations Chris Spear said the rule, “has been an albatross for the trucking industry, threatening to reduce equipment availability, increase costs for businesses and consumers, and cause major supply chain disruptions. It’s critically important that the federal government set realistic standards with achievable targets and timelines.”
